Summary

Volvo Car USA is recalling approximately 15,674 of its 2022-2023 S60, V60, S90L, XC60, and XC90 vehicles. A software error in the engine's electronic control module may prevent the combustion engine from starting as intended. If this occurs, the vehicle will rely solely on its high-voltage battery until it is depleted, at which point the vehicle will lose all drive power. To fix this, Volvo dealers will perform a free software update for all affected vehicles.

Risk

The vehicle may lose all drive power while in motion once the high-voltage battery is fully depleted, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own an affected 2022-2023 Volvo S60, V60, S90L, XC60, or XC90 vehicle.
