Summary

Acura (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling approximately 4,174 of its 2024 Acura ZDX All-Wheel Drive vehicles because the anti-lock brake system (ABS) may activate unexpectedly and release brake pressure in the service brake system. This defect causes a sudden loss of braking power while the vehicle is in motion. To fix this issue, dealers will update the electronic brake control module software at no cost to owners. This update can also be performed wirelessly through an over-the-air (OTA) software update.

Risk

If the brake pressure is released unexpectedly, the driver may experience a sudden loss of braking ability, which significantly increases the risk of a vehicle crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your vehicle's 17-character VIN on the NHTSA recall website or by contacting an Acura dealer.
  2. Check your vehicle's infotainment system for an available 'over-the-air' (OTA) software update for the electronic brake control module and follow the on-screen prompts to install it.
  3. If you prefer not to use the over-the-air update or do not have access to it, contact any authorized Acura dealer to schedule a free software update appointment.
  4. For further information or assistance, contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238 and reference recall number UJE.
  5. Contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional recall details.
