Summary

General Motors is recalling 21,469 of its 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (ABS) in these SUVs can activate unexpectedly, causing the system to release brake pressure while the driver is trying to stop. Owners will receive a free software update to the electronic brake control module, which can be performed through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by visiting a Cadillac dealership.

Risk

If the anti-lock brakes activate incorrectly and release pressure in the service brake system, the driver may experience a sudden loss of braking ability. This unexpected reduction in stopping power significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ with all-wheel drive (AWD).
  2. Look for an over-the-air (OTA) software update notification on your vehicle's infotainment screen and follow the prompts to install the update for the electronic brake control module.
  3. If you prefer or cannot complete the OTA update, contact a Cadillac dealer to schedule a free software update appointment.
  4. For further assistance, contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or the EV Concierge at 1-844-EV-CADILLAC (1-844-382-2345), referencing GM recall number N242453471.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
