Summary

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 1,933 of its 2024 VNL, VHD, and VNR trucks because a critical steering fastener may be loose. Specifically, the connection between the pitman arm and the draglink may fail, which can lead to a complete loss of steering control. To fix this issue, dealers will inspect the steering components, tighten the castle nuts, and install new cotter pins at no cost to owners.

Risk

A loose fastener can cause the steering components to disconnect while the vehicle is in motion. This leads to a sudden loss of steering control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2024 Volvo VNL, VHD, or VNR truck affected by this recall (Recall Number RVXX2311).
  2. Contact an authorized Volvo Trucks dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of the steering components.
  3. During the service, the dealer will tighten the castle nuts and install new cotter pins to ensure the steering linkage is secure.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2311.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
