Summary

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling approximately 96 Audi E-Tron GT vehicles from the 2022 model year. A retaining ring located on the top of the suspension strut can come loose, which causes the air strut spring to lose air pressure and fail. Owners of affected vehicles should contact an authorized Audi dealer to have their suspension struts inspected and replaced if necessary at no cost.

Risk

If the air suspension strut fails while driving, the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of handling and control. This instability significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website or by contacting Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, referencing recall number 42M4.
  2. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Audi dealer to have the suspension strut inspected.
  3. If the inspection reveals a defect, the dealer will replace the suspension strut free of charge.
  4. For further information or questions regarding this recall, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
