Porsche Cars North America, Inc.: Taycan Models Recalled Due to Loose Suspension Strut and Loss of Control

Summary

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. is recalling 28 of its 2021 Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, and Taycan 4S Cross Turismo vehicles. A retaining ring on top of the suspension strut may come loose, which can cause the strut to dislodge and lose air pressure. Owners should take their vehicle to an authorized dealer for a free inspection and, if necessary, a full replacement of the affected suspension strut.

Risk

If the suspension strut fails and loses air, it can lead to a sudden loss of vehicle handling and control. This significantly increases the risk of a crash while driving.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's registration or VIN to determine if you own a 2021 Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, or Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.
  2. Contact an authorized Porsche dealer to schedule a free inspection of your vehicle's suspension struts.
  3. If the dealer identifies a loose retaining ring during the inspection, they will replace the suspension strut at no cost to you.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 and reference recall number ANB8.
  5. For further information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
