Summary

Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling 827 buses, specifically certain 2018-2022 LFS and 2018-2021 LFS Artic models equipped with Bosch steering gear boxes. The steering gear box may have insufficient clamp load, causing mounting fasteners to loosen or fall out entirely. To resolve this, Nova Bus will provide an interim inspection and tightening of fasteners, followed by a permanent replacement of fasteners to ensure a secure load, free of charge.

Risk

If the fasteners loosen or fall out, the driver may experience a complete loss of steering control while the bus is in motion. Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the recall remedy has been completed due to the high risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Stop driving this vehicle immediately and park it until the recall repair is completed.
  2. Identify if your bus is affected by checking the model and year: this recall includes 2018-2022 LFS and 2018-2021 LFS Artic buses equipped with Bosch steering gear boxes.
  3. Contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-800-350-6682 to schedule an interim inspection and tightening of the fasteners. Reference Nova Bus recall number CR5342.

  5. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
