Summary

Volkswagen is recalling 177,493 of its 2024-2025 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicles because the engine cover may have been improperly installed during vehicle service. If the cover is not secured correctly, it can come loose and touch hot surfaces in the engine compartment. Volkswagen dealers will remove the engine cover free of charge to prevent any hazards. No incidents or injuries have been reported at this time.

Risk

If the plastic engine cover makes contact with hot engine parts, it can melt. This creates a significant risk of a fire occurring within the engine compartment while the vehicle is in use.
