Summary

KTM North America is recalling about 1,800 model year 2015 KTM SX-F Factory Edition and 2016 SX-F motocross motorcycles. The molded fuel hoses on these 250cc to 450cc engines can leak fuel at the ends or along the bend of the hose. While no incidents have been reported, this defect creates a serious fire hazard. These orange and black motorcycles were sold at authorized KTM dealers nationwide between December 2014 and September 2015. KTM is offering a free repair to replace the faulty fuel hoses.

Risk

The fuel hoses can leak gasoline near the engine while the motorcycle is in use. This leaking fuel can ignite, causing a fire that poses a risk of burns or property damage.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop riding the recalled motorcycle to prevent fuel leaks and potential fires.
  2. Check your vehicle's identification number (VIN) located on the right side of the steering head to see if it is affected. Model year 2015 motorcycles will have the letter 'F' in the 10th position, and model year 2016 motorcycles will have the letter 'G' in the 10th position.
  3. Verify the model by looking at the rear fender below the seat; it should display the engine size (250cc to 450cc) and the 'SX-F' designation.
  4. Contact an authorized KTM dealer to schedule a free repair of the fuel hose. You can find a dealer or get more information by calling KTM North America toll-free at 888-985-6090 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
  5. Visit www.ktmusa.com and click on 'Service' then the 'Safety' tab for additional details regarding this recall.
