Summary

KTM North America is recalling 7,974 motorcycles, specifically the 2022-2023 390 Duke and 2022-2024 RC 390 models. Water can enter the electronic throttle control unit, causing it to fail and resulting in a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. KTM will inspect and replace the e-throttle control unit for all affected vehicles free of charge.

Risk

If water enters the throttle control unit and causes it to malfunction, the motorcycle may lose drive power suddenly. This loss of power while riding increases the risk of a crash or injury to the rider and others on the road.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your motorcycle is a 2022-2023 KTM 390 Duke or a 2022-2024 KTM RC 390.
  2. Contact an authorized KTM dealer to schedule a service appointment for a free inspection and replacement of the e-throttle control unit.
  3. Verify your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) by calling KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090 and referencing recall numbers KTB2606 or HTB2603.
  4. Note that VINs for this recall will become searchable on the NHTSA website starting March 31, 2026.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
