Summary

BMW of North America is recalling 1,981 vehicles across several models, including certain 2024 X5, X6, X7, Alpina XB7, and 2023 XM models. The driver and/or passenger knee air bags in these vehicles may have been manufactured incorrectly and could fail to deploy properly during a crash. Owners will receive a free replacement of the knee air bag from authorized BMW dealers to ensure occupant protection.

Risk

If the knee air bag does not deploy as intended during a collision, it significantly increases the risk of leg injuries for the driver or front-seat passenger because the safety system cannot provide the designed impact cushioning.
