Summary

Kids II has recalled approximately 680,000 Oball Rattles (and about 17,000 in Canada) because a clear plastic disc on the outside of the ball can break and release small beads. The firm has received 42 reports of these discs breaking, including two reports of beads found in children’s mouths and three reports of children gagging. These four-inch rattles were sold in pink, blue, green, and orange at major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Amazon from January 2016 through February 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using these toys and contact the firm for a full refund.

Risk

The clear plastic discs containing the rattle beads can shatter or break open, releasing small beads that pose a significant choking hazard to infants and young children if swallowed or inhaled.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your rattle to see if it is pink, blue, green, or orange and measures four inches in diameter with 28 finger holes.
  2. Verify if your product is affected by looking for model number 81031 printed on the inner surface of one of the plastic discs or on the original packaging.
  3. Locate the date code on a small triangle on the inner surface of the rattle; only date codes T0486, T1456, T2316, T2856, and T3065 are included in this recall.
  4. Immediately take these recalled rattles away from children and stop using them.
