Summary

Kia America, Inc. is recalling 568 of its 2027 Telluride Hybrid SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige vehicles equipped with the Executive Package. The second-row power seats in these vehicles may fail to detect a person or object in their path, causing the seat to continue moving during powered functions like one-touch tilting or automatic folding. Owners can receive a free software update for the seat control unit through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by visiting a Kia dealer.

Risk

A person, especially a child, may become trapped by the moving rear seat if the sensor fails to stop the motor, significantly increasing the risk of crushing injuries.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's features to see if it is a 2027 Telluride Hybrid SX Prestige or X-Line SX Prestige with the Executive Package.
  2. Exercise extreme caution when operating the second-row power seat functions until the recall repair is completed.
  3. Ensure children are not in the rear seats or near the rear seating area whenever the power-folding operation is being used.
  4. Visit NHTSA.gov on or after March 25, 2026, to search for your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to confirm if your vehicle is included in this recall.
  5. Contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 to arrange for a free software update at a dealership, or check your vehicle's infotainment system for a notification regarding an over-the-air (OTA) software update. Mention Kia recall number SC366.
  6. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
