Summary

Kawasaki is recalling about 950 FX850V-EFI series engines used in riding lawn mowers, specifically the Ferris model IS 2100Z ZTR and the Cub Cadet Pro Z 760 LKW EFI. The fuel injector in these engines can leak excessive amounts of fuel, creating a serious risk of fire and burn injuries. While no injuries have been reported yet, these engines were sold nationwide at Kawasaki dealers and garden stores between June 2017 and August 2019. Consumers should stop using mowers with the affected engines and contact a dealer for a free repair.

Risk

The engine's fuel injector can leak significant amounts of fuel into the engine compartment, which can ignite and cause a fire or lead to burn injuries for the operator.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your lawn mower has an affected engine by checking the engine fan housing for the printed text 'Kawasaki FX850V EFI'.
  2. Verify your engine's specific model and serial number on the identification label located on the engine fan housing. Look for model FX850V-AS44 (serial numbers FX850VB19736 through FX850VB44147) or model FX850V-AS47 (serial numbers FX850VB20733 through FX850VB40776).
  3. Immediately stop using any riding lawn mower equipped with a recalled engine.
  4. Contact Kawasaki toll-free at 866-836-4463 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit www.kawasakienginesusa.com and click on 'Product Recalls' to schedule a free repair.
