Jake's Fireworks Recalls YoYo Sparklers Due to Burn Hazard

Summary

Jake's Fireworks is recalling about 651,500 YoYo Sparklers because they burn faster and with a larger flame than intended. There have been 12 reports of the sparklers burning rapidly down the stick toward users' hands, resulting in second and third-degree burns. These 13 1/2-inch metallic gray sparklers were sold in multicolored four-packs at various fireworks stands and pop-up stores between April 2015 and July 2015. Consumers should immediately stop using these sparklers and take them away from children for a full refund.

Risk

The sparklers can burn rapidly down the wire stick toward the user's hand, causing severe second and third-degree burns. Twelve consumers have already reported burn injuries from this defect.
