Summary

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC is recalling approximately 2,278 of its 2020-2021 Jaguar I-PACE vehicles because the high voltage battery may overheat. An overheating battery significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire, which can lead to injuries or property damage. As an interim measure, dealers will update the vehicle software to limit the battery's maximum charge to 90% while a final permanent repair is being developed. This update can be performed by a dealer or delivered through an over-the-air software update.

Risk

The high voltage battery in these electric vehicles can overheat during use or while charging. Because of the risk of fire, owners are advised to park and charge their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings until the software update is completed.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall affects 2020-2021 Jaguar I-PACE electric vehicles with high voltage batteries that may overheat.
  2. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk.
  3. Charge the vehicle outside only and manually limit the state of charge to a maximum of 90% until the interim software update is performed.
  4. Contact an authorized Jaguar dealer to schedule a free interim software update to limit the battery charge, or check your vehicle settings to see if an over-the-air (OTA) update has already been applied.
  5. If your vehicle was previously repaired under recalls 23V369, 23V709, or 24V085, you must still have this new remedy completed as those previous repairs are no longer sufficient.
  6. Contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827 and reference recall numbers H570, H571, or H572.
  7. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for more information.
