Summary

International Motors is recalling approximately 4,393 of its 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses because the brake lines may have been installed with incorrect hardware. This faulty hardware can lead to brake line damage and subsequent fluid leaks. Owners should take their vehicles to an authorized dealer who will inspect and replace the brake lines and retainers at no cost.

Risk

A brake fluid leak reduces the braking system's pressure, which can significantly increase the distance required to stop the bus. This failure to stop as expected increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to see if it is included in this recall. VINs will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 20, 2026.
  2. Contact an authorized International dealer to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the brake lines and brake line retainers.
  3. If you have questions, contact International Motors customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 26502.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
