Summary

International Motors, LLC is recalling 2,874 school buses including certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB and 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB models. These vehicles were manufactured with body panel joints that may not have enough epoxy coverage, which means they do not meet federal safety standards for body joint strength. Authorized dealers will inspect and repair the interior vertical joints of affected buses free of charge.

Risk

The body panels on these school buses may separate during a crash because the joints are not strong enough. This reduces the structural integrity of the bus and increases the risk of injury to passengers during a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's model and year to see if it is a 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB or a 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB school bus.
  2. Beginning May 11, 2026, you can search for your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov to confirm if your bus is included in this recall.
  3. Contact International Motors customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to schedule a free inspection and repair at an authorized dealer.
  4. Look for an official owner notification letter, which International Motors expects to mail on May 18, 2026.
  5. Refer to International Motors recall number 26504 when speaking with customer service or your dealer.
  6. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
