Wheel Group Holdings LLC: AMP Terrain and Mud Terrain Attack Tires Recalled for Insufficient Snow Traction

Summary

Wheel Group Holding, LLC is recalling approximately 673,000 AMP Terrain Attack R/T, Terrain Attack A/T, Terrain Pro A/T, and Mud Terrain Attack M/T tires. These tires were incorrectly labeled as snow tires but do not provide sufficient traction to perform safely in all snow weather conditions. Because they do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for snow performance, they can fail to provide necessary grip, increasing the danger of a collision during winter driving.

Risk

The tires do not have enough traction to perform safely in snowy environments despite being labeled for such use. This lack of grip can cause a driver to lose control of the vehicle or fail to stop in time, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's tires for the following model names: AMP Terrain Attack R/T, Terrain Attack A/T, Terrain Pro A/T, or Mud Terrain Attack M/T.
  2. Verify if your tires have a load range of SL, XL, C, D, E, or F, as these are the specific variants affected by this recall.
  3. Contact Wheel Group Holding (WGH) customer service at 1-626-363-1666 or via email at AMPQuestions@thewheelgroup.com to arrange for a free inspection.
