Summary

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling 3,312 model year 2025 X1 xDrive28i and X1 M35i vehicles. These vehicles may have B-pillar reinforcement plates that lack sufficient structural strength. To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the B-pillar at no cost to the owner.

Risk

A B-pillar structure with reduced strength may not adequately protect passengers during a side-impact collision or rollover, significantly increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website (www.nhtsa.gov) or by contacting BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
  2. Schedule an appointment with an authorized BMW dealer to have your vehicle's left-side and right-side B-pillar inspected.
  3. Dealers will inspect the left-side and right-side B-pillar and, if affected, replace the B-pillar, free of charge.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
