Royal Enfield North America Limited: Insufficient Side and Rear Reflectors/FMVSS 108

Summary

Royal Enfield North America Limited is recalling approximately 4,206 motorcycles across several 2023 models, including the Himalayan, Classic 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, Super Meteor 650, Int 650, and Continental GT 650. These motorcycles are equipped with side and rear reflectors that do not provide enough visibility to meet federal safety standards. Dealers will replace the insufficient reflectors with new ones free of charge to ensure the bikes are clearly visible to other drivers.

Risk

The inadequate reflectors make it difficult for other drivers to see the motorcycle from the side or rear, which significantly increases the risk of a crash, especially in low-light or nighttime conditions.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your motorcycle's model and year to see if it is one of the affected 2023 Royal Enfield models: Himalayan, Classic 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, Super Meteor 650, Int 650, or Continental GT 650.
  2. Contact an authorized Royal Enfield dealer to schedule a free replacement of your motorcycle's side and rear reflectors.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact Royal Enfield customer service at 1-866-600-1122 and reference recall number SC-43.
  4. For further assistance or to report a safety concern, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
