2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter Recalled for Pedestrian Warning Sound Failure

Summary

Daimler Vans USA is recalling approximately 117 model year 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vehicles. These electric vehicles fail to emit a sufficient warning sound when reversing, which is a requirement for hybrid and electric vehicles to protect pedestrians. To fix this safety issue, authorized dealers will provide a free software update for the pedestrian warning system.

Risk

Because these electric vehicles are nearly silent, they are required to make an audible sound to alert people nearby. If the warning sound is insufficient when the vehicle is in reverse, pedestrians may not realize a vehicle is approaching, which increases the risk of a collision and injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is affected by visiting NHTSA.gov and entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free software update for the pedestrian warning system.
  3. You may contact Daimler Vans USA (DVUSA) customer service at 1-877-762-8267 and reference recall number V3EAVASOU for more information.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional questions.
