Summary

New Flyer of America, Inc. is recalling approximately 2,354 Xcelsior buses from model years 2012 through 2025. These buses may have been manufactured without the required number of emergency exits or with exits placed in incorrect locations, failing to meet federal safety standards. New Flyer will provide owners with free instructions and the parts needed to add or relocate emergency egress windows. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 8, 2025.

Risk

Having too few or poorly located emergency exits can prevent or delay passengers from escaping the vehicle during an emergency, such as a fire or crash. This delay significantly increases the risk of injury to passengers and the driver.

What You Should Do

  2. If you own an affected bus, New Flyer will provide you with the necessary parts and instructions to install additional emergency egress windows free of charge.
  3. Contact New Flyer customer service at 1-800-241-2947 to confirm if your vehicle is affected and to arrange for the necessary repair materials.
