Summary

Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling 2 LFS transit buses from the 2006-2007 model years because they may have been manufactured with an insufficient number of emergency exits. This defect means the vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217 regarding bus emergency exits and window retention. To fix this, Nova Bus will replace certain standard windows with emergency exit windows at no cost to owners.

Risk

Having too few emergency exits can prevent or delay passengers from escaping the bus during an emergency, which increases the risk of injury.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled vehicles are 2006-2007 Nova Bus LFS transit buses that were built with an incorrect number of emergency exit windows.
  2. Contact Nova Bus customer service at 866-870-2046 to confirm if your vehicle is affected and to schedule a free repair. Refer to recall number CR5691 or CR5772.
  3. Owners should coordinate with the manufacturer for the free replacement of standard windows with emergency exit windows, which will be handled in phases through February 2026.
  4. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
