Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling 29 commercial trucks, including certain 2024 Peterbilt 537, 2024-2025 Kenworth T380 and T480, 2024-2025 Peterbilt 548, and 2025 Peterbilt 536 models. These vehicles are equipped with Meritor 10-16K and 18-23K front steer drive axles that may have been manufactured with insufficient wheel bearing lubricant. Authorized dealers will inspect the wheel ends, provide necessary lubrication, and replace parts as needed free of charge.

Risk

The lack of proper lubrication can cause the wheel hub to overheat, which may result in a vehicle fire or a total loss of vehicle control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is one of the affected 2024-2025 Peterbilt (536, 537, 548) or Kenworth (T380, T480) trucks equipped with Meritor 10-16K or 18-23K front steer drive axles.
  2. If your vehicle is affected, contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Dealers will inspect and repair the wheel end with new parts and lubricate the bearings as necessary, free of charge.
  3. For further information or to confirm your truck is included in this recall, contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220, referencing PACCAR recall numbers 24KWJ or 24PBJ.
