International Motors, LLC: Insufficient Lubricant in Front Steer Axle Hub

Summary

International Motors, LLC is recalling 74 of their 2024-2025 International HX vehicles because the front steer drive (FSD) axle hubs may not have enough lubricant. This insufficient lubrication can cause the wheel bearings to become damaged over time. If your vehicle is affected, dealers will inspect lubricant levels and either add lubricant or replace damaged parts for free.

Risk

Damaged wheel bearings can lead to the wheel separating from the vehicle while driving. This causes a sudden loss of vehicle control, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is an International HX manufactured between 2024 and 2025.
  2. Contact an authorized International dealer to schedule a free inspection of your front steer drive axle hubs.
  3. Follow the official remedy instructions: Dealers will inspect the lubricant levels, and add lubricant or replace parts as necessary, free of charge.
  4. If you have additional questions or have not received your notification letter (mailed December 23, 2024), contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 24516.
  5. For further assistance, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
