Summary

Subaru of America, Inc. is recalling approximately 35,357 of its 2024 Crosstrek and Impreza vehicles. Due to a design issue with insufficient clearance, a wiring harness in the instrument panel can rub against a steering beam bracket, which wears down the wire insulation and can lead to a short circuit. This defect can cause a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could lead to a crash.

Risk

The instrument panel harness may contact the steering beam bracket, damaging the wire insulation and causing a short circuit. A short circuit while driving may cause the engine to stall or a loss of power, significantly increasing the risk of a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek or a 2024 Subaru Impreza to determine if it is affected by this recall.
  2. Contact an authorized Subaru dealer to schedule a free inspection of the instrument panel wiring harness and the installation of an additional protective clamp on the steering beam bracket.
  3. If the dealer identifies existing damage during the inspection, they will apply protective tape or replace the entire instrument panel harness free of charge.
  4. For further information or to check your vehicle's status, contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 and refer to recall number WRL-23.
