Summary

Kia America, Inc. is recalling approximately 42,677 vehicles, including 2025 Kia K4, 2025-2026 Sorento, 2026 Sportage, K5, EV9, and Carnival models. A software error can cause the instrument panel display to fail, preventing the driver from seeing critical information. Kia will provide a free software update, which can be performed over-the-air (OTA) or at a dealership, to resolve the issue.

Risk

If the instrument panel fails, the driver cannot see the speedometer, tire pressure readings, or safety warning lights. This loss of vital information increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall affects certain 2025 Kia K4; 2025-2026 Sorento (Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid); and 2026 Sportage (Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid), K5, EV9, and Carnival (including Hybrid) vehicles.
  2. Check if your vehicle's instrument panel software can be updated remotely through an over-the-air (OTA) update, or contact a Kia dealership to have the update performed in person for free.
  3. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for affected vehicles are expected to be searchable on the NHTSA website starting February 9, 2026.
  4. For more information, contact Kia Customer Service at 1-800-333-4542 and reference recall number SC361.
