Forest River, Inc.: 2024 Aurora and Catalina Travel Trailers Recalled for Fire Risk from Furnace

Summary

Forest River is recalling 13 of its 2024 Aurora and Catalina travel trailers because the furnace may have been installed incorrectly. The furnace was placed directly on top of vinyl linoleum flooring, which can cause the floor to overheat during use. To fix this, dealers will install a protective panel between the furnace and the linoleum floor free of charge.

Risk

The furnace can cause the vinyl linoleum flooring beneath it to overheat, which significantly increases the risk of a fire inside the trailer.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you have an affected 2024 Aurora or Catalina travel trailer. Although Forest River reports these 13 vehicles are currently in dealer inventory, you should verify with your dealer if you have recently purchased one of these models.
  2. Contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-825-4995 to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in this recall. Mention Forest River's recall reference number: 205-1778.
  3. If your vehicle is affected, schedule an appointment with an authorized Forest River dealer to have a protective panel installed between the furnace and the linoleum flooring free of charge.
  4. For additional information or questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
