Nissan North America, Inc.: 2024 Sentra Recalled for Incorrectly Installed Driveshaft

Summary

Nissan is recalling 9,645 of its 2024 Sentra vehicles because the front left-side driveshaft may not be correctly installed in the transmission. This assembly issue can lead to a transmission fluid leak and a sudden loss of power while driving. To fix the problem, Nissan will have dealers inspect and, if necessary, replace both the driveshaft and the transmission assembly at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the driveshaft disconnects or the transmission loses fluid, the vehicle may experience an unexpected loss of drive power while in motion. This sudden loss of propulsion increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or VIN to confirm if you own a 2024 Nissan Sentra affected by recall number PMA37.
  2. Contact any authorized Nissan dealer to schedule a free inspection of the front left driveshaft and the continuously variable transmission (CVT) assembly.
  3. If the dealer finds the driveshaft is not fully seated or has a loose or missing retaining clip, they will replace the driveshaft and CVT assembly free of charge.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 and reference recall number PMA37.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
