Summary

Hino Motors Sales U.S.A., Inc. is recalling 985 of its 2022-2023 NE7A, NE7B, NJ7A, NJ7B, NV7A, and NV7B vehicles equipped with a 2500 series transmission. These vehicles were manufactured with a shift selector that features a Park 'P' position, even though the transmission itself does not have a mechanical parking mechanism. To fix this, dealers will inspect and replace the shift selector as necessary for free.

Risk

If a driver moves the shift selector to the Park 'P' position and does not apply the parking brake, the vehicle could roll away unexpectedly. This increases the risk of a crash or injury to bystanders.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking for these specific models: 2022-2023 Hino NE7A, NE7B, NJ7A, NJ7B, NV7A, or NV7B equipped with a 2500 series transmission.
  2. Check your vehicle's shift selector to see if it includes a 'P' (Park) position.
  3. Contact Hino customer service at (248) 699-9300 to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the shift selector. Refer to Hino's recall number M0440.
  4. Always ensure the parking brake is fully engaged before exiting the vehicle to prevent a potential rollaway.
  5. For additional information, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls.
