2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Vehicles Recalled for Rear Seat Belt Defect

Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 20 vehicles, including the 2026 AMG GLC43 4MATIC, GLC 300 4MATIC, GLC 300, and GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe. The center rear seat belts may have been installed without the child seat protection function, which prevents them from properly locking a child restraint in place. Owners can have their vehicles inspected and repaired by a dealer free of charge.

Risk

The center rear seat belt may fail to securely lock a child car seat. In the event of a crash, an insufficiently restrained child faces an increased risk of serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website beginning March 27, 2026.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the center rear seat belt assembly.
  3. If you need to transport a child requiring a locked child restraint before the repair is completed, use the outboard (side) rear seats instead of the center position.
  4. For more information, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
