Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 18,513 of its 2023 F-Super Duty F250, F350, and F450 vehicles equipped with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature. In these vehicles, the default rearview camera image may fail to display when the driver is using the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature. Ford dealers will provide a free software update to the Advanced Drive Assistance System (ADAS) module to resolve this issue.

Risk

If the rearview camera displays an incorrect image or fails to show the default view while reversing, the driver's visibility is significantly reduced. This increases the likelihood of striking an object, pedestrian, or another vehicle, resulting in a crash or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2023 Ford F-Super Duty F250, F350, or F450 model equipped with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature.
  2. Contact a Ford dealer to schedule a free appointment to have your vehicle's Advanced Drive Assistance System (ADAS) module software updated.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference Ford recall number 23S46.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
