Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling 29,607 vehicles, including 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Ranger models. These vehicles were equipped with Tire and Loading Information (TREAD) labels that list the incorrect load carrying capacity. This error can lead to the vehicle being overloaded, which fails to comply with federal safety standards for tire selection and rims. Ford will provide a new corrected label to all affected owners free of charge.

Risk

An incorrectly labeled vehicle may be loaded beyond its safe capacity, which increases the risk of tire failure or loss of vehicle control, potentially leading to a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is part of this recall: 2022-2023 Ford Bronco, 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250, or 2019-2023 Ford Ranger.
  2. Check for a notification letter from Ford, which was mailed starting July 21, 2023, containing your new TREAD label.
  3. Once you receive the new label, follow the instructions to install it directly over the existing label on your vehicle.
  4. If you prefer not to install the label yourself, you can take your vehicle to any Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the new label installed for you at no cost.
  5. If you have questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 23C18.
  6. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
