Summary

Orange EV is recalling 1,334 of its 2017-2024 T-Series and 2023-2024 e-TRIEVER terminal trucks due to incorrect documentation regarding the high voltage system. The emergency manuals, including the Emergency Response Guide, operator, maintenance, and service manuals, incorrectly claim that the in-cab emergency stop button will shut off and lock out the high voltage system. Orange EV will provide corrected manuals and additional warning labels free of charge to resolve this safety hazard.

Risk

Incorrect lockout instructions may lead operators to incorrectly believe the high voltage system is disabled, creating a serious risk of electrical shock during maintenance or operation.

What You Should Do

  1. Contact Orange EV customer service at 1-866-688-5223 to coordinate the receipt of updated Emergency Response Guides, operator/maintenance manuals, and warning labels.
  2. Review the provided documentation immediately upon receipt and apply the new warning labels to your vehicle as instructed by the manufacturer.
  3. Inform all operators and service personnel that the in-cab emergency stop button does not perform a full high-voltage lockout of the system.
  4. For any additional questions, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls.
