Summary

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling approximately 7,499 Audi vehicles because an incorrectly labeled brake fluid reservoir cap may have been installed during manufacturing. The recall affects several models, including 2021 Audi S7, S6 Sedan, RS7, RS6 Avant, and A6 Allroad, as well as 2019-2021 A7 and A6 Sedan vehicles. Because the cap may be labeled incorrectly, a technician or owner might add the wrong type of brake fluid to the system. Dealers will inspect the brake fluid reservoir cap and replace it with the correct one if necessary, free of charge.

Risk

Using the incorrect type of brake fluid can degrade braking performance and significantly reduce the vehicle's ability to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is one of the affected models: 2021 Audi S7, S6 Sedan, RS7, RS6 Avant, A6 Allroad, or 2019-2021 Audi A7 and A6 Sedan.
  2. Contact an authorized Audi dealer to schedule a free inspection of your brake fluid reservoir cap.
  3. If the dealer determines the cap is incorrectly labeled, they will replace it with the correct part at no cost to you.
  4. For further information, contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall number 47T9.
