General Motors, LLC: Chevrolet Corvette Recalled for Inaccessible Front Seat Belts

Summary

General Motors is recalling 13,464 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles from the 2024 and 2025 model years. The driver and passenger seat belt retractors in these vehicles may lock in a stowed or retracted position, making it impossible for occupants to pull the belt out and buckle up. Dealers will replace the affected seat belt retractors with new components at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If a seat belt is stuck in the retracted position, it cannot be used to restrain an occupant. This significantly increases the risk of injury during a crash because the occupant will be completely unrestrained.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if you own a 2024 or 2025 Chevrolet Corvette.
  2. Verify if your vehicle is affected by contacting Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and mentioning recall number N242441390.
  3. If your vehicle is part of the recall, schedule an appointment with an authorized Chevrolet dealer for a free replacement of the driver and passenger seat belt retractors.
  4. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
