Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 283 of its 2022 EQB 300 and EQB 350 electric vehicles because a gear in the front axle drivetrain may be improperly welded. This defect can cause the spur gear to fail, which may lead to the vehicle rolling away unexpectedly while parked. Authorized dealers will replace the entire front axle electric drivetrain free of charge to resolve this safety issue.

Risk

If the improperly welded gear fails, the vehicle may not remain stationary while parked, causing it to roll away. This increases the risk of a crash and fails to meet federal safety standards for theft protection.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm your vehicle is a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 or EQB 350.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free replacement of the front axle electric drivetrain.
  3. If you have questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2024060007.
  4. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
