Autocar, LLC: 2023 ACX and DC Vehicles Recalled for Improperly Tightened Wheel Lug Nuts

Summary

Autocar, LLC is recalling 104 of its 2023 ACX (Xpeditor) and DC (Legend) vehicles because the wheel lug nuts may not have been tightened properly during manufacturing. If the lug nuts are loose, the wheel can completely detach from the vehicle while it is in motion. Dealers will inspect the wheels and tighten the lug nuts to the correct specifications free of charge.

Risk

Improperly tightened lug nuts can cause the wheel to vibrate and eventually detach from the vehicle. If a wheel detaches while driving, it significantly increases the risk of a crash and poses a hazard to other motorists.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records to determine if you own a 2023 Autocar ACX (Xpeditor) or 2023 Autocar DC (Legend) truck.
  2. Contact an authorized Autocar dealer to schedule a free inspection and tightening of your vehicle's wheel lug nuts.
  3. If you have questions, contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 and reference recall numbers ACX-2312 or DC-2307.
  4. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
