Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling 7 of its 2023 GLC 300 4MATIC vehicles because certain bolts in the dashboard area may not have been tightened correctly. This manufacturing defect can cause parts to separate or air bags to deploy improperly during a crash, and may also involve loose connections for the 12-volt auxiliary heater that could cause electrical wiring to overheat. Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect and tighten all affected bolts and connections free of charge to resolve these safety risks.

Risk

If the dashboard bolts are loose, air bags may not deploy as intended during a collision, and interior parts could detach, both of which increase the risk of occupant injury. Additionally, loose heater connections can cause electrical wiring to overheat, significantly increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or door jamb sticker to confirm if you own a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair, where technicians will ensure all dashboard bolts and auxiliary heater connections are tightened to the correct specifications.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) customer service at 1-877-496-3691.
