Porsche Cars North America, Inc.: 2020-2024 Porsche 911 Recalled for Detaching Windshields and Windows

Summary

Porsche is recalling approximately 8,101 model year 2020-2024 Porsche 911 vehicles because the front windshields and rear windows may not have been properly secured during manufacturing. This defect can cause the windows to loosen or completely detach from the vehicle. To address this safety concern, Porsche dealers will inspect the window glass and replace it if necessary at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the windshield is not properly bonded to the vehicle, it may not provide the necessary support for the front airbags when they deploy during a crash. This failure significantly increases the risk of occupant injury and could also result in the window glass detaching while the vehicle is in motion, creating a road hazard.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records to determine if you own a 2020-2024 Porsche 911.
  2. Contact an authorized Porsche dealer to schedule a free inspection of your front windshield and rear window glass.
  3. If the inspection reveals the windows are improperly secured, the dealer will replace the affected glass free of charge.
  4. For more information, contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 and reference recall number ARA3.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
