Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC: 2024 GLC 300 Vehicles Recalled for Improperly Secured Windows

Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling approximately 7 of its 2024 GLC 300 vehicles because the front, rear, and side windows may not be properly attached to the vehicle frame. These improperly secured windows can completely detach from the car while driving, and the windshield may fail to provide necessary support for the front air bags if they deploy during a crash. Owners will be contacted to have their windows inspected and replaced by a dealer at no cost.

Risk

A window that detaches while the vehicle is in motion creates a significant road hazard for other drivers and increases the risk of a crash. Furthermore, if the windshield is not properly secured, it cannot correctly support the front air bags during deployment, which significantly increases the risk of occupant injury during a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or door jamb sticker to confirm if you own a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the front, rear, and fixed side windows.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2023110003.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
