Summary

Autocar, LLC is recalling 1,374 of its 2023-2024 ACX (Xpeditor) and DC (Legend) vehicles because the axle lock nut may not be properly tightened. This defect can allow the wheel end to completely separate from the vehicle while in motion. Owners can have their vehicles inspected and repaired by a dealer free of charge.

Risk

If the axle lock nut is loose or improperly secured, the wheel assembly can detach from the vehicle. A wheel end separation while driving significantly increases the risk of a crash and poses a danger to other motorists.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records to determine if you own a 2023-2024 Autocar ACX (Xpeditor) or a 2023-2024 Autocar DC (Legend) truck.
  2. Contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in this recall. Reference Autocar recall numbers ACX-2402 or DC-2405.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Autocar dealer to have the axle lock nut inspected and properly secured or replaced at no cost to you.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
