Summary

Smeal Holding, LLC is recalling 29 emergency response vehicles, including 2024-2025 Rear Mount Platform, Mid Mount Platform Aerial, and 2024 and 2026 125' Aerial models. These vehicles contain improperly manufactured hydraulic hoses that can separate and leak fluid due to a defective crimp. Dealers will inspect and replace the high-pressure hydraulic hose assembly free of charge to prevent equipment failure or fire.

Risk

A leak in the high-pressure hydraulic hoses can cause a sudden loss of hydraulic functions, making the aerial and outrigger equipment fail while in use. If the leaking fluid sprays onto hot engine or exhaust components, it also creates a significant fire risk.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled vehicles include 2024-2025 Smeal Rear Mount Platform and Mid Mount Platform Aerial models, as well as 2024 and 2026 125' Aerial emergency response vehicles.
  2. Check your vehicle's identification plate or maintenance records to determine if your unit is one of the 29 affected emergency response vehicles.
  3. Contact an authorized Smeal dealer to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the high-pressure hydraulic hose assembly.
  4. For further information, contact Smeal Holding, LLC customer service at 1-800-867-6478 and refer to internal recall number 25011.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for more information.
