Summary

Daimler Vans USA is recalling approximately 1,232 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles from the 2023 and 2024 model years. The rear axle spring U-bolts in these vehicles may have been improperly heat-treated, making them weaker than required. This defect can cause the rear axle to shift out of its correct position, and dealers will replace these bolts for free.

Risk

If the rear axle shifts out of position while driving, it can lead to a sudden loss of vehicle control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your vehicle's make, model, and year against the 2023-2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter recall list.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz or Daimler Vans dealer to schedule a free replacement of the rear axle spring U-bolts.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Daimler Vans USA (DVUSA) customer service at 1-877-762-8267 and reference recall number VS3FEDERB.
