Summary

Wabash National Corporation is recalling approximately 562 of its 2024-2025 RFCVHSC refrigerated van trailers because the base rails may not be bonded properly. This defect can cause the rails to detach from the trailer, which significantly reduces the vehicle's structural strength. If the rails detach, it can cause the cargo inside the trailer to shift or fall out during transit. Owners should contact an authorized Wabash dealer to have an additional attachment plate installed for free.

Risk

If the base rails detach while the trailer is in motion, the loss of structural integrity and shifting cargo can cause the driver to lose control of the trailer, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2024-2025 Wabash RFCVHSC refrigerated van trailer by checking your vehicle registration or the manufacturer's plate on the trailer.
  2. Contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404 to verify if your specific unit is included in this recall (NHTSA campaign number 24V410).
  3. If your trailer is affected, schedule an appointment with an authorized Wabash dealer to have an additional attachment plate installed on the base rails free of charge.
  4. Review the owner notification letter mailed on August 12, 2024, for any further specific instructions regarding your vehicle.
  5. For additional questions or to check your VIN, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
