Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 484,155 vehicles, including 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL models equipped with third-row seats. The recall is due to a defect where the rivet holding the seat belt buckle to its mounting bracket may have been improperly formed during manufacturing. Dealers will inspect the rivets in the third-row seat belt assemblies and replace the buckle assemblies if necessary, free of charge.

Risk

If the rivet is deformed, the seat belt may fail to properly restrain a passenger during a crash, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected: This recall specifically covers 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe; and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with third-row seating.
  2. Contact a General Motors dealer to schedule a free safety inspection of the left and right side third-row seat belt buckle assemblies.
  3. If the dealer identifies an improperly formed rivet, they will replace the entire seat belt buckle assembly at no cost to you.
