Summary

Kia America, Inc. is recalling 80,255 of its 2023-2025 Niro EV, Niro Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Niro Hybrid vehicles. The floor wiring assembly located beneath the front passenger seat can become damaged due to improper routing. Dealers will inspect the wiring and install protective covers or replace and reroute the assembly as needed at no cost to the owner.

Risk

Damaged wiring can cause front airbags and seat belts to fail during a crash or cause side curtain airbags to deploy unexpectedly. These malfunctions significantly increase the risk of injury to occupants during a collision or while the vehicle is in operation.

What You Should Do

  1. Contact a local Kia dealer to schedule a service appointment for the free inspection and repair.
  2. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking the model (2023-2025 Niro EV, PHEV, or Hybrid) or by looking for Kia recall number SC332.
  3. Dealers will inspect, replace and reroute the floor wiring assembly, as necessary, free of charge. In addition, dealers will install wiring covers.
  4. If you have already received an owner notification letter (mailed February 27, 2025), follow the specific instructions provided in the correspondence.
  5. Contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) if you have additional questions.
