Summary

IKEA is recalling approximately 148,000 HEROISK and TALRIKA bowls, plates, and mugs sold in various colors such as yellow, pink, and blue. These products were sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online from August 2019 through May 2021 for between $4 and $12. The items are being recalled because they can become brittle and break during use, potentially leaking hot food or liquid and posing a burn hazard. Consumers should immediately stop using these items and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund.

Risk

The PLA material can become brittle and shatter unexpectedly, causing hot contents to spill onto the user. IKEA has received 123 reports of breakage worldwide, including four injuries, two of which required medical attention for burns.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using all HEROISK and TALRIKA brand bowls, plates, and mugs.
  2. Check the bottom of your items to identify if they are affected; look for the article name 'HEROISK' or 'TALRIKA', supplier number '23348', 'Made in Taiwan', and 'PLA' molded into the material.
  3. Return the recalled items to any IKEA store for a full refund. A receipt is not required to receive the refund.
  4. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bowls, plates, and mugs and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund.
  5. For more information, contact IKEA toll-free at 888-966-4532 anytime or visit www.ikea-usa.com and click on 'Product Recalls' at the bottom of the page.
