Summary

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 102 vehicles, specifically certain 2022-2025 Volvo VN and 2025 New VN trucks. The idler gear bracket fasteners in the engine may have been improperly tightened, which could allow the idler gear to detach while the vehicle is in operation. Dealers will inspect the engine and replace the turbo compound units as needed, free of charge.

Risk

A detached idler gear can cause severe engine damage and lead to an immediate engine stall. If the engine stalls while driving, it increases the risk of a crash or injury to the driver and others on the road.
